The Seeds and Light Project
In the “Seeds Series,” the child represents all of us in our most vulnerable state. As children we were at the mercy of our caregivers and the others that surrounded us. We had no choice in where we were born or to what circumstances we found ourselves. However, the seed sprouting inside the child represents the potential that we all have and that God sees in us. The child’s hair is dripping with the heavens because God has a plan for all of us, no matter where we are in our journey. The gold surrounding the head shows how precious we are to God and worthy of investment. The landscape represents that we are in the world but not of the world. (John 17:16)
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.” (Galatians 6: 9-10)
This series has a second meaning. It represents the hope and potential inside people despite their circumstances. Poverty and abandonment is an invisible famine that can kill families, cultures, and society. God sees the seed of potential in all of us and uses us to help those that need a beacon of hope to escape the cycle of despair. In this piece, the landscape behind the child is indicative of where this child is from.
