“The Search” is based on the imagery from the scripture: “For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.” (2 Chronicles 16:9a)
I love the thought of God really searching for us. His eyes peer out of the sky with the earth below. The context of this verse is about King Asa who called on seer to find out why he had lost in battle. The Lord told him that because he had relied on another king’s army instead of the Lord, he will have war instead of peace. The cartoon space figure represents those who want to rely on themselves for everything. God is facing away from that figure. God is looking toward an area where ‘the heavens’ are dripping through the sky. This represents the spiritual peace that comes from trusting God.
