Sabbath in the Midst

In this piece, the woman is looking down.  Her position represents how the fears of our situations can send us in to despair.  A ‘crisis of faith’ can be frightening.

However, the woman is in a restful state, relaxed.  Just as Christ slept during the storm on the Sea of Galilee.  (Mark 4:35-41)  She is resting despite the chaos around her. “Take my yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest [relief, ease and refreshment] for your souls.” Matthew 11:29

The seven circles represent the ‘time’ of creation.  God rested on the seventh day and we are called to also rest from our works. Genesis 2:2

“There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from His.  Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their
example of disobedience.  Hebrews 4:9-11
