Resonance of Thoughts

In “Resonance of Thoughts,” a woman is surrounded by a gold edged circle or halo.  Surrounding the halo are cherry blossoms which represent earthly concerns.  These concerns are always part of our reality, but they do not have to dominate our thoughts and lives.

Her hair is made up of the ’heavens’ to show that although we dwell in the earthly realm, we are also spirits, and as we change our focus to the will of God, our mind will be transformed into the mind of Christ.

One definition of ‘resonance’ is “a sound or vibration produced in one object that is caused by the sound or vibration produced in another.”  When our mind becomes the mind of Christ, we can clearly ‘vibrate’ in synch with the will of God.  The green and orange stripes represent that compatible resonance.

Her shirt is a bright yellow, the color of shiny gold, which represent how precious we are to Christ.

“Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.” Colossians 3:1-3

Note: The calligraphic lines in the piece have several purposes.  First, they are part of the artwork’s composition.  Secondly, they are reminiscent of the ‘writing on the wall from the book of Daniel in the Bible.  Third, they represent the language of prayer that connects our spirit to the Holy Spirit.
