“The Race” is a portrait of the apostle Paul.
One of my favorite quotes from him about his personal life is “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for His appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:7
In his hair and beard are stars and a galaxy representing the heavenly, spiritual things that were always on his mind. In his ‘body’ there is a sunrise over water with sheep grazing. This represents the peace in the Kingdom of Heaven he sought and the sheep are the churches he ministered to while on this earth.
